Otávio’s blog

Week 2024-36

Last weekend COVID found us. I took Monday and Tuesday as sick days to rest and recover, and by mid-week, scientist and I were already testing negative. tinyScientist was still testing positive on Friday but got his first negative result on Sunday night.

scientist and I are currently watching Sunny and Bad Monkey, but I used my recovery time to re-watch Severance and start watching Firefly to see if the show is really that good. Spoiler alert: it is.

I’ve also started playing Crypt Custodian. I love Metroidvania games, and this one is quite fun. It’s not difficult, but I’m enjoying it. It's probably the last game I'll play on a console before The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.

During the week, I decided to make some changes to this blog, which is now hosted on Bear Blog instead of Micro.blog. I might go into the details in a future post about the switch, but for now, I can say I'm here to stay. I went ahead with the lifetime plan, so there's no reason to move to another platform. My blog is here, along with my /now page and the other two blogs I have: Epic Tales Tavern and Micro.publish. I'll continue using Micro.blog as a social network (with microposts cross-posted to Mastodon), which means Micro.publish plugin development will continue.

I backed Project Tapestry when it was announced earlier this year and am using the Beta builds via TestFlight. The goal of the project is to group different sources of information (RSS, Micro.blog, Mastodon, BlueSky, etc.) into a single timeline. Last week, Reeder released a new version with a similar goal. I'm still trying to figure out how these tools fit into my reading workflow, but one thing I’ve noticed is that I follow the same subset of users on Micro.blog, Mastodon, and BlueSky. Whenever I open these apps, I see the same posts from some users two, three, or even four times (for those I also follow via RSS). I might need to make some changes to my reading habits, but I’m still unsure what and how.

Last but not least, LEGO minifigures for Dungeons & Dragons are out and... I have them all.
