Deprecation of Micro.publish

I've made the decision to deprecate Micro.publish, my plugin for Obsidian. While I've enjoyed developing this tool and seeing it become part of many users' workflows, things have changed that prevent me from maintaining it properly.

The primary reason for this deprecation is simple: I'm no longer a Micro.blog user. I've recently canceled my Micro.blog subscription in favor of another platform, moving my long-form content there.

Without an active Micro.blog account, I can no longer properly test updates to the plugin or ensure its continued compatibility with Micro.blog's API. I believe it would be irresponsible to actively maintain a plugin I can't adequately test or support.

It's worth mentioning that Micro.publish has been downloaded over 5,200 times and has become the preferred method for many users to publish and edit posts and pages on Micro.blog. I'm incredibly grateful that so many of you found value in this tool and integrated it into your workflows.

For that reason, I don't plan to remove the plugin from the Obsidian Community Plugin directory as long as it continues to work. Given that Micro.blog's API is quite stable, I believe the plugin will remain functional for a long, long time.

However, please note:

While I'm stepping away from Micro.blog, I believe it would be beneficial for the platform to better recognize third-party developers who create free integrations. Some form of support, whether through developer accounts or by maintaining a directory of third-party applications and integrations, would encourage continued community development.

To everyone who sent me coffee through Ko-fi, I want to express my sincere gratitude. Your support was incredible and truly appreciated.

The source code will remain available on GitHub for anyone interested in forking or extending it. The Micropub standard that Micro.blog uses is well-documented and stable, making it possible for others to continue this work if desired.

And for those interested in following my current projects and writing, there's always my blog and my short posts on Mastodon.

That's it. Thank you all.
